Summer 2020 - Trip to Greece Cancelled; Revert to Plan B
I've come to realize that life is full of its inevitable letdowns. To mitigate this, I've learned to develop a Plan B to reduce these the impact of things not happening the way I'd hoped or anticipated.
My nephew is coming out and out sudden change of plans was to limit our travels to the United States with a journey across the United Stated to take advantage of the cheap gas prices. So we set off to see America in an old pickup truck subjected to the offerings of the AM/FM radio and conversations.
The first night of the journey took us from home in Bellingham, Washington to Baker City, Oregon.
Being in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we rolled into a Motel 6 at 12:30am, only to be told that the check-in ended at midnight due to the virus. Fortunately, the manager was kind to make an exception on relented, giving us the room. We checked in and crashed in a matter of minutes.
When I am on the road, I look for more bass and cheap accommodations. Cleanliness is also nice, but usually cannot be provided on the low-end interstate travels. This hotel was an exception, as it appeared to be newer and recently renovated.
On to Zion National Park tomorrow.
Oh and the picture is taken from home earlier this week from a hike that we took up to Oyster Dome in the Chuckanuts.
